Could he create trust with customers and colleagues?
GREEN CIRCLE MARKETING — PREDICTION → REALITY
Four recruitment predictions. Four confirmed by Week 8.
Green Circle were making an important field-sales appointment.
The recruitment decision was not based on interview confidence alone.
The process identified four primary behavioural predictions:
- strong relationship building
- commercial judgement
- disciplined territory management
- coachability
Product knowledge was also identified as an area likely to require development.
Then the person started.
By Week 8, all four primary predictions had been confirmed through observed workplace behaviour.
The identified development area was progressing as expected.
And zero unexpected performance concerns had emerged.
THE RECRUITMENT HYPOTHESIS
The appointment began with something more useful than “we liked him.”
The recruitment process identified Conor as a strong behavioural fit for the role.
The decision was built around evidence relevant to the commercial environment Green Circle needed him to operate in.
The four primary predictions were:
Could he make sensible commercial decisions in a territory-based role?
Could he plan, prioritise and follow through consistently?
Would he respond positively to feedback and continue learning?
Product knowledge was deliberately identified as a development area.
That matters.
A good hiring decision does not require pretending somebody is perfect.
It requires understanding where confidence is strong and where evidence still needs to develop.
The decision was not:
“Is he impressive?”
It was:
“What do we expect to see if this hire is working?”
EIGHT WEEKS LATER
The predictions had become observable behaviour.
By Week 8, the evidence looked like this:
4/4 primary recruitment predictions confirmed.
The value of that result is not the number itself.
It is the consistency between what recruitment suggested and what the business was now observing in the role.
OBSERVED WORKPLACE EVIDENCE
The evidence was becoming visible in the job.
The Week 8 review showed:
- rapid integration into the business and culture
- strong relationships with customers and colleagues
- disciplined territory planning
- structured customer follow-up
- a positive commercial mindset
- willingness to learn
- responsiveness to coaching
- professional customer representation
- developing pipeline quality
- developing commercial opportunities
The point was not that every final sales outcome had already arrived.
The point was that the behaviours the role required were appearing in the environment where they actually mattered.
THE CLIENT VIEW
“I'm very confident that we have the right person.”

“It's been a real success.”

Those comments matter because they came after the business had begun seeing the person operate in the role.
The confidence was no longer based only on interview performance.
It was being reinforced by observed workplace behaviour.
COMMERCIAL DISCIPLINE
The evidence was positive. The story was not finished.
Full sales targets had only recently come into effect.
That meant the commercial numbers still needed time to develop.
Green Circle and Your Wavelength were not pretending otherwise.
The evidence available at Week 8 was strong enough to support continued confidence, but not strong enough to claim the final commercial outcome had already arrived.
That distinction matters.
Commercially intelligent sales hiring is not about declaring victory too early.
It is about having enough evidence to distinguish between:
- a salesperson developing in the right direction
- a development area that needs attention
- an early warning sign that should not be ignored
Good evidence can increase confidence without pretending uncertainty has disappeared.
NOT EVERYTHING NEEDED TO BE PERFECT
Product knowledge was the known development area.
Product knowledge had been identified during recruitment as an area likely to require development.
By Week 8, it was progressing as expected.
That is useful because a structured hiring process should not only identify strengths.
It should also make sensible predictions about where support will be required.
The question is not:
“Does the candidate have zero gaps?”
The question is:
“Do we understand the gaps, and are they developing in the way we expected?”
A known development area is different from an unexpected performance problem.
WHAT THIS PROVES
Don't stop collecting evidence when the interview ends.
A recruitment decision is a hypothesis.
If the process identifies behaviours that matter, those behaviours should be observable after appointment.
Green Circle demonstrates the value of continuing to test the decision.
Before appointment:
we had recruitment evidence.
After appointment:
we had workplace evidence.
By Week 8:
the two were consistent.
That does not guarantee the future.
It does give the business a stronger basis for continued confidence.
Don't simply make a prediction.
Keep collecting evidence to see whether reality supports it.
BEHAVIOURAL EVIDENCE
This is where the Sales Success Model becomes useful.
The Your Wavelength Sales Success Model exists to improve the quality of evidence collected before a hiring decision.
Green Circle shows why that matters.
The behaviours identified during recruitment could later be looked for in the workplace.
That is more useful than relying only on:
- CV pedigree
- industry familiarity
- interview confidence
- chemistry
- gut feel
PROVING THE DECISION
Week 8 is one checkpoint, not the finish line.
The Green Circle review sits inside the wider 120-Day Sales Hire Success Framework.
The purpose of the framework is to keep collecting evidence as the hire develops.
Week 1 asks about clarity.
Week 2 surfaces friction.
Week 4 looks at behaviour.
Week 8 looks at momentum.
Week 12 looks at commercial return.
Week 16 supports the final decision.
Green Circle demonstrates what the Week 8 checkpoint can reveal when the recruitment hypothesis is clear enough to test.

What would you expect to see if the hire was working?
A stronger hiring process starts by defining the evidence you would expect before the person joins — and continuing to look for it after they start.
The Sales Hiring Risk Assessment helps identify where clarity, evidence, assessment or onboarding risk may already exist.
